Three Restaurants Worth Trying in Mojácar and Vera

During our time in the Mojácar and Vera area, we visited three restaurants that stood out: Sensations and Bellavista in Mojácar, and Lua Puerto Rey in Vera.

All three offered very good food, but each provided a different dining experience. For us, Lua was the standout, particularly when it came to the service, atmosphere, and overall concept.

Sensations – Mojácar

Sensations Restaurant & Music Bar is situated on the Paseo del Mediterráneo in Mojácar Playa, directly facing the sea.

We really enjoyed the food here. There is a good choice of dishes, and the restaurant has a pleasant setting that makes it an enjoyable place for either lunch or dinner. Our waiter Jose made our visit even more enjoyable; he was funny and efficient.

Sensations offers Mediterranean and international dishes, with seafood, paella, and other Spanish favourites among the choices. A three-course dinner was around 30 euros, including a glass of wine. They also have a Menú del Día and regularly feature live music.

Our impression was straightforward: great food in a very nice seaside location.

Bellavista – Mojácar

Just a little further along the Paseo del Mediterráneo is Restaurante Bellavista.

Bellavista was another restaurant where we were impressed with the food. Its menu includes fresh fish and seafood as well as grilled meats, salads, and other Mediterranean dishes. They also feature a three-course menu for 22.95 euros. Our favorite, besides the great food, was the Sticky Toffee Pudding; we all rated it as the best we ever had. We also appreciated that the owner was greeting everyone at the front door.

The beachfront location adds considerably to the experience. It has a relaxed atmosphere, and it is the sort of restaurant where you can sit back and enjoy a good meal without feeling rushed.

Again, our main takeaway was the quality of the food: Bellavista was excellent, and certainly somewhere we would happily visit again.

Lua Puerto Rey – Vera

Restaurante Lua Puerto Rey in Playas de Vera was different.

While we enjoyed the food at all three restaurants, Lua was our favourite overall.

What made Lua stand out wasn’t simply the food. It was the whole concept. From the surroundings and presentation to the way the restaurant operates, everything seemed to come together.

The most impressive of all was the service. Good service can turn a nice meal into a memorable evening, and that was certainly our experience at Lua. The attention from the staff, combined with the modern surroundings and overall atmosphere, made the restaurant feel special. The General Manager, Frederico López, together with Service Manager Joan Mora Mena and the Wine Steward Paco Rodriguez Román, do an outstanding job.

Lua describes its philosophy as combining quality products with particularly attentive treatment of its customers, and from our experience, that philosophy really showed.

Three Good Restaurants – One Clear Favourite

We would recommend all three restaurants for different reasons.

Sensations offered great food in an attractive seaside setting. Bellavista also impressed us with excellent food and a relaxed beachfront atmosphere.

But when considering the complete experience — food, service, atmosphere and concept — Lua Puerto Rey was the restaurant that impressed us the most.

If we were choosing just one of the three for a special evening, Lua would be the one we would return to first.

That doesn’t take anything away from Sensations or Bellavista. Both provided very enjoyable meals and are well worth visiting when staying in Mojácar.

Together, the three restaurants also show just how much the Mojácar and Vera area has to offer when it comes to eating out.
