Have you ever wondered how they built the International Space Station 400 km above the Earth?

It started in 1984 after many redesigns and changes, the final model was established as we see it today. In 1993, it was officially named ISS, International Space Station, after several countries joined the venture. In 1993 it was officially named ISS, International Space Station. Construction began in 1998.

After a horrible Shuttle accident on February 1, 2003, the project and the funding were halted.

The resummed in 2005.

The station weighs 180,000 kilos and consists of several components, produced in all participant countries. There are labs and factories in Bremen, Germany, in Turin, Italy, the remote robots are built in Canada, and the Shuttle of course, by NASA in Florida, USA.

The Shuttle makes regular runs with building materials for the station at a cost of $450 million to 1.75 billion each run. SpaceX runs at $316 million per launch.

I can understand why wealthy, developed nations are investing these staggering amounts of money to reach other planets, however, I don’t understand nor do I agree with a nation like India spending $1.4 billions for a 7-day mission in 2022 when 70% of the population doesn’t have access to drinking water, and now with Covid-19 spreading all over the country and thousands of people dying due to the lack of oxygen! I think they should take care of their people before going to the moon.

The two videos attached will give you a great overview of NASA’s history and also how the Space Station is put together.
