I remember strolling along the mile-long beaches, nobody in sight, the crystal clear waters; there was one small eating place right on the edge of the beach, the owner was Italian, he sat us at a table in ankle-deep water right in the sand on the beach and served us freshly caught lobster! My wife is still talking about that today, an unforgettable experience!
The Dominican people are friendly and courteous to visitors. Dominican cuisine is predominantly made up of a combination of Spanish, indigenous Taíno, and African influences. many middle-Eastern dishes have been adopted into Dominican cuisines, such as the “Quipe” that comes from the Lebanese kibbeh. Dominican cuisine resembles that of other countries in Latin America, those of the nearby islands of Puerto Rico and Cuba, most of all, though the dish names differ sometimes.

A traditional breakfast would consist of mangú, fried eggs, fried salami, fried cheese, and sometimes avocado. This is called “Los TresGolpes” or “The Three Hits”.

When you are ready to hit the beaches here is a list of the 11 nicest and most popular ones:
  1. Las Terrenas, is a resort town on the Samaná Peninsula, in the northeastern part of the Dominican Republic. It’s known for central Las Terrenas Beach. Other beaches include Bonita, Cosón, and Las Ballenas. Cays off the coast feature underwater caverns like Dudu cave. Bars and restaurants, many with open-air seating, line the strip of Pueblo de Los Pescadores near the water.

Make sure you stop in a local restaurant and try the Sancocho, a traditional stew consisting of meats, vegetables, and plantains, if you were out late partying and had a slight hangover, try the Mangú for breakfast, it will pep you right up and get you ready for another beach day!
